Bob Mainhardt Head Coach
Bob Mainhardt enters his fifth season as Head Coach and General Manager of the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. After his first four seasons with the Phantoms, Mainhardt's coaching record is 136-80-16. He has led his team to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons.
In 2007, he captured the Phantoms' first North American Hockey League North Division regular season and playoff championship and advanced to the Robertson Cup Championship game. His career playoff coaching record is 11-10.
Prior to coaching the Phantoms, Bob served as head coach and vice president of hockey operations for the Team Ohio Midget AAA program from 1998 to 2001, and was also the head coach and assistant general manager of the Cleveland Jr. Barons, formerly of the NAHL. In addition, his coaching background includes two different stints as an assistant coach for Gilmour Academy Prep, outside of Cleveland.
Mainhardt, who is also the general manager of the Ice Zone, played Junior-A hockey for the NAHL's Lakeland Jets and Compuware Ambassadors as well as the USHL's Dubuque Fighting Saints. In Dubuque, he was a member of their Gold Cup national championship team in 1993.
He moved on to collegiate hockey and the CCHA Division-I ranks for Kent State University. There, the Detroit native earned a Bachelor's degree in recreation management. He and his wife, Angie, live in Poland with their three daughters, Sophie, Gaby and Cecilia.

Curtis Carr Assistant Coach
Curtis Carr returns for his second season behind the Phantoms bench after spending the previous seven with Kent State University, including four as a player.
During his time at Kent, Curtis played in two ACHA national tournaments and was a three-time American College Hockey Association (ACHA) All-American.
After graduation, Carr became Kent's assistant coach in 2003. The following year, he took over the head coaching duties and led the team to the 2005 ACHA National Tournament, which earned him a nomination as a finalist for the ACHA Coach of the Year.
As assistant coach and director of player development for the Phantoms, Curtis' responsibilities also include recruitment, scouting and game video analysis.
Curtis' experience and knowledge of the game extends to his involvement with USA Hockey's Select and Developmental camps and as an instructor for USA Hockey's Coaching Education Program.
Curtis is a native of Georgetown, Ontario. At Kent State, he earned a Bachelor's degree in physical education and a Master's degree in sports administration and recreation management. He is single and resides in Boardman.

Rocky Russo Assistant Coach
Rocky is entering his third year as an assistant coach of the Mahoning Valley Phantoms Jr. A Hockey Club; and he is the director of youth programs at the Ice Zone. Rocky helps plan the Phantoms practices, and oversees weekend game film breakdown.
Rocky is also head coach/GM of the Youngstown State University Men's Hockey Club, He guided the Penguins to victory in the 2005-2006 CHA League Championship, as well as compiling a 29-21-0 record over the past two seasons.
A 2000 graduate of Canfield High School, Russo holds a Bachelor's degree in business management from Kent State University, where he also played hockey for four seasons. During his time at Kent, Rocky's team reached three ACHA Division I national tournaments: 2001, 2002 and 2005. He lives in Youngstown with his wife Andrea.

Joe Dumais Assistant Coach
Joe Dumais joins the Phantoms this season after serving as an assistant coach at Ohio University last year. Joe recently earned a Master's degree from OU, with a focus on coaching education.
He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in sociology from Quinnipiac University, where he played four years of Division I hockey, and served as the team's assistant captain during his senior season.
Joe coordinates the entire Phantoms youth hockey program and is also the head coach of the Midget Major AAA Phantoms.

Shane Clifford Goaltending Coach
A former NHL goaltending coach, Shane is in his first season with the Phantoms. In addition to the Phantoms, he coaches the goalies for the Everett Silvertips in the WHL and the Ohio State University Buckeyes, and serves as a personal mentor for several professional players. He has coached goalies at the highest levels of hockey, including NHL players Arturs Irbe, Marc-Andre Fleury, Sebastien Caron and Jocelyn Thibault.
During the summer months, Shane's goalie camps are always sell-out venues - packed with the best up-and-coming goaltenders in hockey. Once the season starts, Shane's "The Crease" training program provides the best one-on-one goalie instruction available.
